Hi-Z 99B86 AG element July 1960
Fully Tested and Working
Ok, I was just a newborn in July of 1960, but that’s when this 440 was built. It’s weathered pretty well, with bumps on the grill face, and scratches to the shell paint. But if you’re into tone more than cosmetics, you’ll like this microphone. It’s a rebuilt Vintage Shure Model 440 SL harp mic, with an excellent, high-impedance, strong, vintage Shure controlled magnetic element. I’ve fully rewired the mic. The new connector is a Switchcraft 5/8” screw-on model. The paint is fair, with minimal chips and scuffs, so keep that in mind. The mic shell is 60 years old or so. The grill is in fair condition.
Good, honky, solid tone, with a nice fat 60’s bottom and distortion.
Cosmetic condition includes scuffs and scratches to the original silver shell coat. Make sure to closely view the photographs! A great version of the Shure 440 series mics.
The microphone has been fully tested on a Skip Simmons modified Masco MA-17 P.A. amp head driving a twin-ten cabinet with Lil’ Buddy speakers. Sounds excellent. Ready for the stage.
