I’ve taken a 1940’s Astatic Model 200, chopped and custom-machined it, and added a Switchcraft 5/8” screw-on connector and a smooth Vishay Volume Control. The entire mic is newly rewired, with a new element gasket. The vintage Shure CM element hails from from 1961. I’ve also added a windscreen behind the grill featuring marine-grade stainless steel mesh and white nylon cloth.

These Astatic 200’s are very light and easy to cup. This one has good, hot tone. The volume control lets you dial it right to the edge of feedback for that wonderful overdriven harp sound. And it’s cool looking too.

Better than any of the new harp mics available today. Ready to gig!
