Vintage 1957 Shure Controlled Reluctance
White Label 99E86 703 element
Fully Tested and Working
This is a very nice original Shure 520 with original paint and Controlled-Reluctance tag, newly rewired, with a new Switchcraft cable connector, premium volume control knob, original element gasket, and a really great-sounding Shure Controlled-reluctance element from 1957. I’ve also added a dual windscreen behind the grill featuring marine-grade stainless steel mesh and black nylon cloth.
Tone-wise, this mic is strong and hot, with great distortion when tightly cupped. Better than any of the new harp mics available today.
This White Label CR element has that sought-after crunchy tone.
Cosmetically this is really cool. It’s got the original green-bullet paint, but it has nicks, scratches and chips from 50 plus years of use. The grill has minor pitting in the brushed chrome, but overall it’s a nice-looking, vintage exterior.
The mic features:
– Strong 1957 Shure 99E86 703 CR element
– Integrated Volume Control
– Switchcraft 5/8” screw-on connector
– Premium Volume Control Knob
– Custom stainless steel mesh
Excellent sound. Ready for the stage.
