Hi-Z 99A86 NJ element October 1974
Fully Tested and Working
Here is a stock vintage Shure 520 shell, totally rebuilt. It’s weathered pretty well, with bumps on the grill face, and scratches to the shell paint. I left the Shure 520SLB tag, but switched the element, so it a full high-impedance microphone.
But if you’re into tone more than cosmetics, you’ll like this microphone. It has an excellent, high-impedance, strong, vintage Shure controlled magnetic element. I’ve fully rewired the mic. The new connector is a Switchcraft 5/8” screw-on model. Fresh new gasket from Jeffrey Spoor. The paint is original, and good, but with with minimal chips and scuffs, so keep that in mind. The mic grill is 50 years old or so. It has some imperfections, but nothing significant.
Good, honky, solid tone, with a nice fat bottom and distortion.
Cosmetic condition includes scuffs and scratches to the original green shell coat. Make sure to closely view the photographs! A great version of the Shure 520 series mics. Sounds excellent. Ready for the stage.
