Fully Tested and Working
Rebuilt Vintage Astatic Model 30 harp mic, with a strong, vintage Shure Controlled Magnetic element from 1970. The connector is a Switchcraft 5/8″ screw-on model. The paint is Grey Hammertone with Chrome grill. Glued tag from Conneaut, Ohio, meaning the shell is likely from the 1970's. Good condition considering the mic is 50 years old or so.
This 1970 High Impedance Shure Controlled Magnetic (CM) 99S556 element is very hot, and sweetly distorted. Strong, fat bass. Fully rewired, this mic includes a Jeffrey Spoor custom element gasket for proper shell fitting of the cartridge.
The microphone has been fully tested on a Skip Simmons modified Masco MA-17 P.A. amp head driving a twin-ten cabinet with Lil' Buddy speakers. Sounds excellent. Ready for the stage.
