Great Tone!
1960’s High-Impedance Harmonica Microphone
Vintage 1965 Shure Controlled Magnetic
99A86 FK element
Fully Tested and Working
This is a customer trade, originally built by me! It’s a custom, vintage Astatic JT30 harp mic, with an excellent, strong CM element from 1965. I added a dual windscreen behind the grill featuring marine-grade stainless steel mesh and white nylon cloth. The powder coat is in good shape, but not perfect. This microphone has been completely overhauled including new wiring, volume control, and element gasket. The grill is in excellent condition, with two minor imperfections in the chrome.
The element is strong, with a nice crunchy distortion throughout, and excellent bass tone. It hails from November of 1965, and works as well as the day it was born.
The mic features:
– Strong 1965 Shure 99A86 FK element
– 1029 Ohms
– Integrated volume control
– Premium aluminum knurled VC knob
– Switchcraft 2501 5/8” screw-on connector
– Custom stainless steel grill mesh
I’ve fully tested this mic on a pair of amps, a Mission Harp Amps 32-20, and a ’50s Premier Model 110. Plenty of power and controlled distortion when cupped. This is a completely ready for the gig mic.
