This is a rare, new, brushed chrome JT-30-style shell, with an original vintage gloss Astatic JT-30 chrome grill. Strong Shure Controlled Magnetic element. Newly rewired, with a Amphenol (Switchcraft) screw-on cable connector, premium volume control knob, and a new JL Spoor custom element gasket.
This is a pretty interesting element. Shure changed the name of their dynamic elements around 1956 from “Controlled Reluctance” to “Controlled Magnetic.” The primary difference was the switch from a tin cap on the diaphragm, to glue. This element is labeled “Controlled Magnetic,” but retains the tin cap. It must have been manufactured just as the name change came out. The tone of this one is strong, loud, gritty, and just awesome.
Excellent cosmetic condition, Ballsy tone. Minor chrome imperfections, but you have to look very close!
