High-Impedance Harmonica Microphone
Vintage 1977 Shure Controlled Magnetic
99A86 QE element
Fully Tested and Working

Is it beautiful or ugly? A been-through-the-ringer Shure 520SL in terrible cosmetic condition. Grungy, chipped, scratched, and cruddy outside. However inside it’s newly rewired, with new element gasket, and a great-sounding Controlled-magnetic element from 1977. I couldn’t help myself though, and added a new dual windscreen behind the grill featuring marine-grade stainless steel mesh and white polyester cloth.

This element is really strong, with great distortion when cupped. This CM element sound is what’s important in this mic, and it howls!

The mic features:
– Strong 1977 Shure 99A86 QE element
– Original Green and grime
– Switchcraft 5/8” screw-on connector
– 1024 Ohms, Strong element
– Custom stainless steel mesh
– Original Green Shure Riveted Tin Tag

The mic has been tested on a Mission Chicago 30 watt amp, and on a lovely little Kalamazoo Model Two amp. It performs great on both.
