Late 1940's Astatic B Series Model W-80
Excellent Crunchy Tone!
High-Impedance Harmonica Microphone
Vintage 1959 Shure Controlled Magnetic
99H86 903 element
Fully Tested and Working
A beautiful Astatic JT-30 style Model W-80 in good original cosmetic condition, with a few scratches. It's newly rewired, with a Switchcraft cable connector, new element gasket, and a really great-sounding Controlled-magnetic element from 1959. I’ve also added a dual windscreen behind the grill featuring marine-grade stainless steel mesh and black nylon cloth.
Tone-wise, this mic is hot and crunchy. Better than any of the new harp mics available today liek the Hohner Blues Blaster.
This CM element sound is what’s important, and it howls!
The mic features:
– Strong 1959 Shure 99H86 903 element
– All original paint
– Original Astatic Conneaut Ohio Badge
– Switchcraft 5/8” screw-on connector
– 1017 Ohms, Strong element
– Custom stainless steel mesh grill screen
– All new wiring
Good cosmetic condition, but a few nicks and scuffs on the grill, and the tone is gritty and awesome.
The mic has been tested on a Mission Chicago 30 watt amp, and on a lovely little Kalamazoo Model Two amp. It performs great on both.
