This is quite a find. A 1954 Astatic hammertone JT-30 in awesome condition. The original element was dead, so I rewired it with a 1949 Shure Black Label Controlled Reluctance element. It’s got a nice, strong, fat bottom. The shell has just a few scuffs. The hammertone finish is shiny and bright. Plenty of Mojo. The original brown metal Astatic base and wood stand are in remarkable condition. Nary a blemish on either.
And this Shure element is sweet as they come. Great cosmetic condition, clean as a whistle. Monster tone on this one too. December 1949, the first year of production for the famed black label model.
The mic features:
– Strong 1949 Shure 99A86 12-49 element
– Black Label Controlled Reluctance
– Original Astatic hammertone finish
– Switchcraft 5/8” screw-on connector
– All new wiring
_ Complete microphone stand included
– (Cable Not Included)
